Summer Crew
Summer Crew gets to actively perform maintenance and custodial duties in preparation for incoming/outgoing guests, sustain the safety, cleanliness & beautification of the residence halls.
Please note that the Summer Crew position is anticipated to begin the second week of May 2024 and goes through early August 2024.
Job Responsibilities Overview:
Anticipated Position Period: Mid-May 2024- Early August 2024
Maintain professionalism by wearing the appropriate uniform during all work shifts, and arrive at your shift on time with a positive attitude.Â
Crew will clean (turn) rooms as assigned.Â
Perform minor repairs such as custodial work, cleaning windows, stairwells, mopping, scrubbing toilets, and removing recycling/trash from common areas.
Ensure residence hall common areas, maintenance offices, workrooms, laundry rooms, and adjacent spaces are presentable and professional at all times.Â
Report hall maintenance needs to appropriate personnel and enter work requests.Â
Assist residents and guests with questions and troubleshoot/resolve customer complaints in an honest and constructive manner.
Complete pre-arrival preparation including setting clean linens and ensuring our facilities are presentable.Â
Replenish supplies during guests stays (toilet paper, soap, and blankets).Â
Complete post-departure room cleaning including removal of linen, trash, vacuum, and wipe down all surfaces as directed.Â
Document all billable damages, stolen, or missing items.
Report and/or appropriately log lost and found items.Â
Responsibly use University owned/leased vehicles and equipment. Complete daily work log and submit to Supervisor. Â
Summer Crew Leads provide daily hands-on direction, motivation, and support to Summer Crew by facilitating communication, addressing performance issues, ensuring meticulous task completion, demonstrating proper safety procedures, supporting a cohesive summer staff environment, and assisting Summer Crew with maintenance/custodial daily needs.

Guest Service Representatives (GSRs) get to serve as liaisons between the Department of Housing and Residence Life, guests, and residents. GSRs serve as the first point of contact for guests and residents when they arrive for check-in. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service, checking out equipment and services to guests, providing resources, and checking out guests upon departure.
Please note that the Guest Service Representative position is anticipated to begin the third week of May 2024 and goes through early August 2024.
Job Responsibilities Overview:

Provide outstanding customer service for conference guests, students, staff, and visitors, including answering questions and providing resources.
Demonstrate timeliness and efficient follow-through of tasks and responsibilities.
Answer phones and forward calls or messages appropriately.
Receive and report requests for repairs, maintenance, and lock changes.
Maintain accurate logs for lockouts, equipment check-out, packages, etc.
Maintain confidentiality, including but not limited to, conversations, paperwork, and student interactions.
Abide by federal mail protocol and distribute and forward mail appropriately.
Timely opening and closing of the front desk, if applicable.
Maintain a positive attitude about the GSR position, Housing & Residence Life, and Boise State University.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Communicate effectively and efficiently during shift changes about any unfinished tasks or ongoing concerns.
Illustrate ownership, pride, and initiative in desk operations.
Participate in any professional development opportunities recommended by the GSR’s supervisor.
Other duties as assigned by the Summer Housing Coordinator.

Summer HousingAssistants get to build community in their assigned residential community, and have the opportunity to make each resident feel at home and like they belong at Boise State. Summer Housing Assistants help work to connect and build relationships with residents, support residents in being successful at Boise State, assist in maintaining the safety and well-being of our communities, work at the services desks on campus, plan programs and educational events for residents, and get to work and collaborate with a team of peers!

Job Responsibilities Overview:
Anticipated Position Period: Mid-May 2024- Early August 2024
SHA occupancy tasks include completing room condition and occupancy reports, maintaining student files, and updating electronic occupancy records.
SHAs assist in maintaining facilities standards by entering work orders into the facilities work order database, maintaining up-to-date programmatic and informational postings within the halls, and completing health and safety inspections.
SHAs keep the Summer Housing Coordinator and RDs informed of events within the residence halls by inputting accurate and timely records of incidents into the Advocate System, filing accurate community walks logs, and completing requests for on-call and desk schedule changes promptly.
All incident reporting by an SHA must be done immediately (for example: if a behavioral situation occurs, an on-call report must be filed by the SHA as soon as the incident has concluded).
SHAs may also complete additional tasks and paperwork as directed by an RD.
A required live-in position to assist in day-to-day Summer Housing and Conference operations and supervise different student staff groups that operate in different capacities within the department. This is a 3-month position that requires 30-40 hours a week, including night and weekend hours.Â
Duties will include: assisting with Camps and Conferences, addressing crisis situations, planning events, evaluating assorted systems, occupancy management, conference services, and residence education, assisting with summer orientation events, and performing projects as assigned.Â
Job Responsibilities Overview:
Anticipated Position Period: May 6, 2024 – August 10, 2024 (may be negotiable)
Assist in training Guest Service Representatives (GSR) in their summer role.
Assist in scheduling Guest Service Representatives to their assigned service desks
Ensure appropriate staff coverage for the GSR desk role.Â
Hold Bi-Weekly staff meetings with student staff.Â
Coordinate the Orientation or FSY check-ins and check-outs.
Be present at Orientation or FSY check-in and check-outs.Â
Ensure all rooms are move-in ready for Orientations or FSY.Â
Serves on a rotating RD on-call schedule.
Assist Summer Staff in any day-to-day tasks that relate to camps and conferences.
Critically think and assist in any guest or resident issues.
Be knowledgeable of the Conference Programmer system and other Boise State University systems.
Develop goals for Summer GSRs to complete by the end of summer.
Attend on occasion – Programs hosted by the Summer Housing Assistants
Compile and send out final billing to Conference guests after Check-out.
