Move-In Day FAQ
Before Move-In Day
When is Move-In Day?
Move-in day will take place on August 15 and August 16 this year.
What tasks do I need to complete in advance of move-in?
You’re off to a great start by reading everything on this page!
The following tasks are extremely important to complete before move-in:
- Make your first housing payment. Your first payment is due on July 25 and your second payment is due on August 25.
- Register for classes if you haven’t already.
- Check to be sure you’re enrolled in at least 11 credits (this is the minimum to be eligible for on-campus housing).
What should I pack to bring with me? What shouldn’t I bring?
When you’re packing up, be sure to review the What to Bring and What to Leave Home page on our website. In short, remember that your residence hall space is furnished (leave your bed, desk, dresser, and mattress at home), and that residence hall spaces are modest-sized. You’re way more likely to over-pack than under-pack.
Some items are restricted so be sure to review the list.
How many people can I bring with me to campus?
You can bring up to two helpers (parents/guardians, siblings, friends) with you for Move-In Day. Due to limited space in the residence halls, we cannot accommodate large groups.
How many vehicles can I bring with me to campus?
Up to two, including your own.
Can I bring a trailer or recreational vehicle to campus?
We cannot accommodate larger vehicles such as trailers or recreational vehicles. If you arrive at campus with one, our parking staff will not be able to assist you with finding parking in your designated zone.
Needing a large trailer is also usually a sign that you’re packing too much. Remember to review the What to Bring and What to Leave Home page on our website.
What if my assigned move-in time does not work for me?
Depending on parking availability, we may be able to adjust your time. Go to your Housing Portal to submit a Move-In Time Slot Request (the button is located on the home page of the portal). We will get back to you within 2-3 business days regarding your request.
If we are able to change your move-in time slot to your requested time, you will receive a new move-in email with that time and your Housing Portal will be updated as well.
Arriving On-Campus
Where do I go when I arrive on-campus?
This depends on your assigned community. At the bottom of this page, you can find maps and information about your specific arrival area and parking lots.
What happens once I’m parked in my arrival zone?
You’ll get out of your vehicle and head over to a check-in tent near your parking lot. Our team will provide you with the keys to your new home and then you’ll start moving in.
Do I need a special parking permit during Move-In Day?
When you get your keys, you’ll receive a dashboard permit with your information on it. You’ll have one hour in short-term parking before needing to move your vehicle to your designated long-term parking zone (this is specified on the dashboard permit and our staff can point them out to you). You don’t need to worry about citations as long as you park in your designated short and long-term parking zones.
If you’re going to have a vehicle on-campus throughout the year, you’ll need to pick up your parking permit inside the Student Union Building.
Moving In
How long do I have to move in after arriving on campus?
You’ll have an hour after arriving to get your belongings moved in. We don’t want you to feel rushed–the goal here is simply to get your vehicle moved to long-term parking as soon as possible so that other students moving in will have parking available to them. Don’t worry! You’ll have plenty of time to unpack, decorate your space, and get to know your new roommates over the next few days.
Can I get help moving in my belongings?
We have amazing staff and volunteers. If you’re comfortable with them helping you move your belongings, they’ll be happy to do so. As move-ins get busier, our team may be stretched thin, but we’ll be working as hard as we can to assist as many residents as possible.
Are wheeled carts available?
Yes, we have wheeled carts and wheeled flat “sleds” that can be used to haul your belongings. As move-ins get busier, the availability of carts may be limited but we work as hard as we can to ensure that they’re available as quickly as possible.
If you do borrow a cart, please be sure to return it so that others can use it.
Will the doors to my residence hall be unlocked during move-in?
Yes, we unlock the doors to your residence hall until 7:00 p.m. during Move-In Day. After that, you’ll need your Bronco Card to get in.
After Moving In
What do I do if I have a maintenance issue in my space?
Each community has a service desk that can help with these issues. Swing by and let them know what’s going on and they’ll get a member of our maintenance team out to help.
I had a package shipped to me before moving in. How do I pick that up?
Normally, you can pick up packages from your service desk but during move-ins, we get so many packages that we set up temporary package rooms. Your RA or service desk staff can direct you to yours.
We aren’t able to receive packages more than a week prior to Move-In Day. Packages sent before that time may be returned.
What else should I do after moving in?
Your first stop should be the Student Union Building to get your Bronco Card, which you’ll need to access your residence halls after the doors lock. While you’re in the Student Union Building, you can also grab your parking permit, visit the Bronco Shop, and grab some food.
After you’ve got your to-do list done, check out Bronco Welcome and events happening around campus! It’s time to meet your fellow Broncos and have fun!
