We’re so glad you’re ready to apply for campus housing. Living on campus is one of the best ways to get the most out of your Boise State experience. On-campus housing is usually in high demand so apply during the housing lottery. Please review our process below before starting your application.

Application Dates

You’re going to love living on campus! Continue reading to learn how and when to apply.

2024 – 2025 Academic Year

The Sophomore and Above Housing application opened the week of February 19th. Students will have until February 23rd at 11:59 PM (MDT) to participate in the housing lottery. Students can apply by going to their Housing Portal.

The First Year Housing application will open the week of March 18th. Students will have until April 5th at 11:59 PM (MDT) to participate in the housing lottery. When the application is ready, students can apply by going to their Housing Portal.

First-year students must complete intent to enroll in order to receive an assignment on-campus.

Please note that housing is not guaranteed. Assignments will be based on a randomized lottery.

Fall 2024 Housing Application Opening dates

First Year Students: the housing application opens the week of March 18, 2024 at the following times:

* Students must be admitted to Boise State in order to access the Housing Application.

Summer 2024

The Summer Housing application opening date is March 4, 2024.

Spring 2025

The Spring Housing 2025 Application will open in October for First-year students and Sophomore and Above students.

First-year students must complete intent to enroll in order to access the application.

First Year Application Process

The application for First Year Housing will open the week of March 18, 2024 for the Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 academic year. Complete your housing application by April 5, 2024 to be a part of the Housing Lottery.

Once the application is live and you start applying, you’ll be asked to complete the following:

Electronically sign the academic year license agreement
Select your top 5 communities
Pay $75 nonrefundable application fee*
Complete the Living Learning Community questions (if you listed an LLC in your community requests)
Contact the Educational Access Center if you need accommodations
Register for renters insurance through GradGuard, a Boise State University partner if you don’t already have renters insurance
Check your Boise State email frequently for important updates

*Your application is not complete until you’ve paid the application fee. If you are under 18 at the time of applying for housing, your parent or guardian will need to verify the application and acknowledgment of the license agreement. They’ll get an email with instructions on how to complete this verification. Please note that you must turn 18 prior to the conclusion of the academic year to be eligible for on-campus housing.

Sophomore and Above Application Process

The application for Sophomore and Above Housing will open the week of February 19, 2024 for the Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 academic year. Complete your housing application by February 23, 2024 to be a part of the Housing Lottery.

2024-2025 Academic Year

Improve your chances of getting your community request by doing the following:

First-Year Students

Apply during the housing lottery window.

List at least 5 communities you would like to live in (you can change your community requests on your application until May)
Complete the Living Learning Community questions

If you receive a community assignment before May, then you’ll have a chance to find a roommate who has been assigned to the same community. Community Assignments are based on a randomized lottery. We will first consider your community preferences, then your room/suite-type preference so take time to choose communities with room/suite-types that meet your budget and preference. Use the Bottom Line Estimator to help.

Sophomore and Above Students

Apply during the housing lottery window.

List 4 communities you would like to live in. Sophomore and above housing includes:

Honors College
University Suites
Lincoln Townhomes
The Osprey

Spring Semester – New Residents

For students that did not live on-campus in the Fall and are applying for the Spring semester, housing assignments are made on a first-come basis, however, availability may be limited.

The Spring 2024 application opened in October.

*Early arrival is not available for the Spring semester.

Move-In Day

Move-In Day is tentatively scheduled for August 15, 2024. Move-In date is subject to change.

Preparing for Move-In

Once you know your community assignment and roommates, start planning on what you would like to bring with you to school. Use our What to Bring and What to Leave Home page on the website to help you pack.

Prior to moving onto campus, please complete the following:

Make your first housing payment by July 25, 2024.
Register for classes if you haven’t already.
Check to be sure you’re enrolled in at least 12 credits (this is the minimum to be eligible for on-campus housing).

If you are bringing a vehicle to campus for the academic year, reach out to Parking and Transportation to ask about purchasing a parking pass.

Gender Inclusive Housing

Gender-inclusive housing is an option that you can select as a preference when you apply to live on campus.

Gender Inclusive

“Gender Inclusive” housing means that you can be housed with any other student regardless of their gender identity. For example:

If you want to live with a friend who is not the same gender as you, you can both select “Gender Inclusive” housing and match with each other during the roommate matching process.
If you don’t have a roommate preference but would like to live with people of different genders.

Gender Inclusive Housing Assignments

There are a lot of reasons why you may choose gender-inclusive housing as an option, but here are some things to remember:

Gender-inclusive housing is offered, as space is available, in several of our suite-style residence halls including the Honors College and Sawtooth Hall, Lincoln Townhomes, University Square, and University Suites. Please contact our office if these halls don’t meet your budget but you are interested in gender-inclusive housing.
As with all of our housing options, for the best chance of getting your housing preference, it’s important to apply early
If we don’t have space for all applicants who request gender-inclusive housing, we will house people who request gender-inclusive housing according to the gender identity listed on their application
In order to be assigned to gender-inclusive housing all students in the unit must have requested “Gender Inclusive” as a preference on the housing application

In order to live on campus, you must be admitted to the university and enrolled in 12 or more credits by the time you physically move into campus housing. First priority goes to full-time students. First-year students must complete intent to enroll in order to access the application.

Additional eligibility requirements apply as follows:

First-Year Students

Chaffee, Driscoll, Honors College and Sawtooth, Keiser, Morrison, Taylor, Selway Suites, and University Square

You must meet the following criteria:

19 years old or younger
Graduated high school the spring term before you plan to live on campus

Sophomore and Above

Aspen, Cedar, Hawthorne, Juniper, Tamarack, and Spruce Townhomes, Honors College, and University Suites

You must meet one of the following criteria:

Sophomore class standing (26 credits+), OR
At least 20 years of age at the time of move-in, OR
Successfully lived on campus for at least one year, OR
Graduated high school at least one year prior to move-in,

Other situations will be looked at on a limited, individual basis. If you don’t meet these requirements but feel you have extenuating circumstances, contact Housing and Residence Life for consideration.

Apartments Eligibility
