Bed Sizes and Height Adjustment
Bed Height Adjustment Deadline
Requests for bed height adjustments must be submitted to us by August 7, 2024. After fall move-ins begin, we will not be entering private spaces to make adjustments to bed height until later in the semester.
We are currently experiencing a high volume of bed adjustment requests. Our team will be working to complete as many requests as possible prior to move-in day. If we are unable to adjust your bed to the requested height by move-in day, our team will stop by in the days following to make that adjustment.
Standard Twin Mattresses
These buildings all have a standard size twin mattress: Chaffee, Driscoll, Keiser, Morrison, Taylor, Towers, Clearwater, Payette and Selway Suites, University Suites, and University Square.
74″ long x 38″ wide x 7″ deep and can accommodate a person 6’4″ and shorter
Twin-sized sheets will work for these beds unless you use a thick mattress pad/egg carton, where twin XL sheets would be better
You can order bedding and get it delivered to home or to your hall before you arrive. Our service desks open the week before move-in. We cannot accept packages beforehand.
Full Mattresses
- Lincoln Townhomes
- 75″ x 54″
Full Extra Long Mattresses
- Honors College and Sawtooth Hall
- The Osprey
- We recommend that you purchase Queen-sized sheets for these mattresses, especially if you plan on using any kind of mattress pad.
- 80″ x 52″ x 8.5″
Extended Mattresses
- We have a limited number of extended mattresses 90″ long x 38″ wide x 7″ deep
- Fitted sheets for 90-inch mattresses are not readily available at most department stores
- Due to the physical setup of Driscoll, Honors College and Sawtooth, Morrison, Lincoln Townhomes, and Towers Hall, extended mattresses are not available.
If you are 6’4″ or taller, you can request an extended mattress by emailing housing@boisestate.edu from your myBoiseState email account with the following:
- Your full name
- Hall
- Room number
- Assigned bed
- Your height
Requests may be fulfilled after move-in as well depending on demand. Any requests received after August 10, 2023, may be subject to an additional $25 fee.
Bed Height Adjustment
We can adjust bed heights in most of our residential complexes except the following:
- Barnes Towers
- Driscoll Hall
- Honors College & Sawtooth Hall
- Lincoln Townhomes
- The Osprey
- Morrison Hall
Do not bring your own bed risers or cinder blocks to change the height of your bed.
Standard Height
Probably like yours at home, low to the floor. Bottom of the bed 20″-24″ from the floor once adjusted.
Captain Height
High enough for your dresser to fit under the bed. Bottom of bed will be 30″-36″ from the floor once adjusted.
Lofted Height
Up high enough to fit almost anything under your bed. Not recommended if you’re uncomfortable with heights. Bottom of bed will be 5’3″ from the floor once adjusted.
Bed Riser
Bed risers are the only option for:
- Lincoln Townhome
You can purchase risers in different heights at many retail stores. Depending on the height you purchase, the bed frame could be an additional 4″ to 8″ off the floor.
Risers are not an option for the Honors College and Sawtooth Hall.
To request a height adjustment:
By August 10, 2023, send an email to:
housing@boisestate.edu
With subject line of: Bed Adjustment
With this information:

Requests made 10 days before move-in are free and should be completed by the time you arrive, depending on timing and staffing.

Additional adjustments after the first are $25 per request.
Mail & Packages
Mailing Addresses
Your mailbox number will be listed in your MyHousing portal once you receive a housing assignment. You’ll receive a private combination or key when you move in.
- Driscoll, Morrison, and Taylor residents use the front desk at Keiser Hall for mail, package, and other services.
- University Square (Jade, Jasper, Garnet, and Topaz Halls) can pick up packages at the service desk in Clearwater Suites.
- The Osprey residents can pick up packages in the main lobby service desk.
- Apartment mailboxes are centrally located in each apartment complex. Oversized mail and packages for Park, Heights, Manor, and Village can be retrieved from the Apartment Desk in the Village Community Center.
Keep Your Address Current
It’s your responsibility to keep your mailing address current. If you switch rooms, apartments, or vacate your building, be sure to update your address through United States Postal Service.
Package Delivery
Bring your student ID to the front desk when you pick up packages. Please note, we can only receive and issue a package to you if you are a current resident or dependent.
Mail Address and Important Phone Numbers
For front desk numbers, on-call numbers, security numbers, and the correct format for receiving mail visit Mailing Address & Front Desk Contacts page.
Cable and Internet
Cable
Cable is no longer available in the residence halls. If you bring a TV, we recommend using devices such as Amazon Fire Stick or Apple TV.
Internet Access
Internet access and WIFI are free on-campus. To log into the school’s WIFI, you’ll use your my.Boisestate username and password to sign in. The WIFI you’ll want to use is eduroam.
Laundry
Laundry facilities
Laundry is now free in all residence halls. If your building has a community laundry room, you have access 24/7 with your valid Boise State ID and current housing assignment. If you are in the Lincoln Townhomes, University Square, and University Suites, there is a washer and dryer in each unit.
Detergent type
All washers and dryers are “high efficiency” machines. They conserve energy and water and reduce the amount of detergent needed. Conventional detergent creates a high volume of suds that will trip sensors on the machines and turn them off. Please only use laundry detergent intended for high-efficiency machines.
Washer Instructions
You’ll need your ID card to access laundry facilities and then use the machines.
- Load the washtub. Without over filling, loosely put dry clothes into the washtub.
- Add high-efficiency detergent according to the instructions. High-efficiency laundry pods are easiest – one per load.
- Choose fabric type (normal, permanent press or delicate).
- Push to begin washing.
Dryer Instructions
- Clean the lint filter to improve drying.
- Place clothes into the dryer.
- Add dryer sheets to reduce static and add softness to fabrics.
- Set the temperature. Use high heat for normal fabric and low heat for delicates.
- Push to begin drying.
Report Broken Machines
It’s easier than ever to request service: Use our app!
- Download the CSC ServiceWorks Service Request App.
- Use the app to scan the license plate on the machine.
- The app will input the machine information.
- Fill out your info and hit submit.
Bicycles on Campus
Cycle Learning Center
The Cycle Learning Center has bike path maps and more information related to bringing a bike to campus.
If you will bring your bike to campus, we have these recommendations:
- Use a strong u-lock
- Complete the free bike registration
- Consider renting or purchasing a new or used bike through the Cycle Learning Center
Storage
Don’t store or park your bike in any public areas, passage ways, balconies/decks/landings. Bikes cannot be ridden inside buildings for safety reasons. Bicycles should only be locked on exterior bike racks or placed in bicycle lockers. Check out the Bike Barns located on campus for more options.
Removal
Bicycles that are parked in or chained to non-designated spaces will be tagged and impounded for a minimum of 48 hours. After a maximum of 30 days, unclaimed bicycles will be donated to community charities. The same process applies for bicycles left behind after the end of the spring semester.
Rental
The Cycle Learning Center has a variety of bicycles which can be rented by the semester or the year. For more information, visit the Cycle Learning Center’s website .
Recycling

How to dispose of garbage and recyclables
Residence Halls: Go to the trash and recycling area. Dispose of your garbage into the trash chute and drop your recyclables into the recycling bin.
