History

1932

Founded by the Episcopal Church, Boise Junior College opens on Sept. 6; Idaho Episcopal Bishop Middleton Barnwell serves as the first president.

1951

Morrison and Driscoll halls built.

1967

Chaffee Hall opens.

1970

Barnes Towers Hall opens.

1974

Boise Junior College gains university status and becomes Boise State University.
University Heights completed.
University Manor completed.

1998

Residential Honors College established.

2004

First Residential College created (College of Business and Economics).
Keiser, Taylor, University Suites, and University Square open.
University awards first honorary doctorate to alum and filmmaker Michael Hoffman.

2005

Residential College Communities of Health Professions, Civic Leadership, and  Renaissance (later Arts and Sciences) are created.

2011

Half of the Townhomes were built in December 2011.

2012

The other half of the Townhouses opened in August 2012.

2017

Honors College and Sawtooth Hall opened in August 2017.
