Concluding an impressive academic and service-driven track record, Elena Gallina (BA Multidisciplinary Studies ’18) graduated from Boise State and the Honors College and is attending the University of Oxford in England. In 2019, Elena was named a Rhodes Scholar, the first woman in Boise State history to win the award. Prior to Rhodes, Elena was Boise State’s first Boren Scholarship awardee–receiving funding to study abroad in Israel–and a 2017 recipient of the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship, becoming the university’s second Truman Scholar. Building on the foundation of her undergraduate study–which focused on economics, political science, gender studies, and Arabic studies–Elena is currently working to change the way international governing bodies respond to disaster and the post-conflict reconstruction process. Many students have the intelligence, curiosity and drive to maintain a 4.0 GPA and earn national awards and accolades, however, few students have her global awareness and passion for using her talents to elevate the stories of others.
