This form allows you to submit a direct request to the professor of each Honors course you select (you can request permission numbers for more than one course at a time). Please note that while you will be sent a copy of all your responses to this form, each professor will only receive responses related to their course.

Thank you for your interest in Honors 390. Please read all of the course information before selecting which permission number to request.

Course Sections

(1st 7 weeks) Honors 390-001 is a Hybrid course. The only required in-person sessions are on Friday, Feb. 7 (1:00-8:30pm) and Saturday, Feb. 8 (8:30am-6:00pm). You are required to participate in all of the in-person weekend sessions (Feb. 7-8) to pass the course. The rest of the coursework is done online before and after the in-person weekend.

*We recommend that students take the Hybrid section if possible. If you prefer the Hybrid section but it is full, get on the waitlist! We typically go through a good number of waitlist spots since there are so many seats in the course.

(2nd 7 weeks) Honors 390-4001 is entirely online, apportioned evenly over seven weeks with twice-weekly deadlines. You can expect between 5-7 hours of self-directed work per week, and you need to stay on top of deadlines to be successful in the course.

*This section is meant for students who cannot take the Hybrid section. Priority will be given to students graduating in SP25 and FA25.

Course Timing

To enroll in Honors 390, you must be 1-3 semesters from graduation, so graduating no later than SP26.

Ideally, you should take Honors 390 the semester before you apply for what’s next (graduate school or a job). It’s a highly practical course that works to prepare you for your next steps after graduation, so if that’s a ways off, you won’t get nearly as much out of this course as you will if you’re nearing graduation.

If you are graduating in SP26, we recommend taking Honors 390 at a later date (unless there’s a compelling reason why you need to take it now).

Questions for Honors 392-003: Life, Death, and Meaning in the Modern World

Questions for Honors 392-004: Write to Win: Rhetorical Strategies for Application Writing

Though this course explores the rhetorical strategies used in all types of applications, the bulk of this course’s assignments will be completing six drafts of a Fulbright Scholarship application. Thus this course is typically only a good fit for students who are interested in applying to Fulbright within the year. It is difficult to successfully complete this class if you write the application as a thought experiment.

If you would like more information before committing, please email katehuebschmann@boisestate.edu. If you are interested but will not be graduating until after May of 2026, I would recommend taking this course next spring since I offer it every year.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree by the grant’s start date (you do not need to have a degree at the time you apply). 3. Applicants must meet the language requirements of the award to which they are applying (not all grants have language requirements).

Questions for Honors 498: Senior Seminar

The 498 Senior Seminar online section is for students who cannot attend one of the in person sections of the course. Given the limited number of spaces for the class, we want to be sure we have enough spots for people who absolutely cannot take another section.
