History professor John Bieter and international business professor Nina Ray co-published an article on the upcoming Basque Jaialdi festival in the “Travel, Tourism and Identity” issue of the Culture & Civilization series, published by Transaction Publishers in April.
The title of their article is “I Don’t Know Where I Am — Boise or the Basque Country.” It explores the history of the upcoming Jaialdi festival in Boise, which is one of the largest Basque festivals in the world and attracts tens of thousands of visitors fro
m around the globe. The article also mentions that of particular note this year is the “soccer friendly” between Athletic Bilbao and the Mexican Club Tijuana professional teams.This premier match will be played in Albertsons Stadium on the Boise State campus on July 29. Bieter and his colleagues were instrumental in making this first-time event happen.
