Dr. Joanne Klein, History, presented “Manly Men, Good Men: The English Constable in Police Instruction Manuals from the 19th century to the present” in Chicago on April 24, 2015. The University of Chicago conference, Masculinities on the British Fringe, was sponsored by Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality, the Nicholson Center for British Studies, and the Franke Institute for the Humanities. Participation was peer-reviewed and competitive.
