Make sure when your student leaves for school they have insurance cards and information they will need to make appointments at Health Services. Help them understand their medical coverage and check to see if their plan is in-network with Health Services.

Send a “self care” kit with your student with Tylenol, ibuprofen, cough drops, antihistamine, and any usual over-the-counter medications your student has needed in the recent past. This year incoming residential Broncos are encouraged to include a “Quarantine Care Kit” among their room essentials when moving into Boise State Housing.

Talk with your student about sharing information with you. If they choose to “keep you in the loop”, there is a release of information form your student should complete to allow staff to share Information with you, the parents.

Send pertinent past medical history and immunization records with your student.

Be sure your student knows that we specialize in student health which provides a full range of primary care and select specialty medical services. Our clinic is staffed with Board Certified physicians and nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and register medical assistants.

Your student can always work to improve their overall wellbeing with the innovative programming that our wellness team offers during the academic year. These programs/events focus on everything from sleep, to stress management, nutrition, body positivity, sexual health, drug/alcohol awareness, and more. For a more tailored plan your student can schedule an appointment with our campus dietitian or health coach.

It is key for your student to know that we evaluate and treat mental health with counseling, psychiatry and FREE crisis counseling. We aim to help your student tap into their strengths and find resources to deal more effectively with concerns that impact their person and academic goals.

Make sure that your student is aware of our location and hours. We are conveniently located on campus (behind the Rec Center) on the second floor the Norco Building and offer FREE patient parking.

In case your student forgets, remind them that we offer scheduled appointments, walk-ins, and urgent care during our regular hours of operation. We are now offering Telehealth appointments for Medical, Counseling, Psychiatry, and Dietitian services.

The best way to support your student when they are sick away from home. Send them to us! We have a staff of licensed, board-certified health care providers and nurses that are parents too! We will take wonderful care of your child when you can not.
