The Air Quality Index in the Treasure Valley is in the UNHEALTHY range today.
The following groups should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion:
- People with heart or lung disease (especially asthma)
- Children and older adults
Everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion. (Prolonged and heavy exertion is any exercise more vigorous than walking.)
In general, staying indoors is healthier when the air quality is poor.
Simple face masks (like those worn at doctor’s offices or found at hardware stores) are NOT EFFECTIVE to filter out smoke particles, and may make it even more difficult to breathe. Health Services does not recommend using them.
