To increase awareness and help prevent heart disease and its effects, Health Services is proudly participating in American Heart Month.
- Health Services will provide free blood pressure screening during the month of February—no appointment is necessary. Simply stop by the Health Center and we’ll check your blood pressure for you.
The good news? You can lower your risk of developing heart disease by making a few healthy changes. Controlling and preventing risk factors is also important for people who already have heart disease. To lower your risk:
- Watch your weight.
- Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.
- Control your cholesterol and blood pressure.
- If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
- Get active and eat healthy.
A visit to Health Services is a great way to start taking care of your heart—right here on campus. We provide:
- Screening and treatment for high blood pressure
- Testing and treatment for high cholesterol
- Smoking cessation therapy, including medications
- Medical treatment for overweight and obesity
- Health Coaching, to help you reach your health goals
