The Department of Respiratory Care honored two outstanding members of the Respiratory Care community with awards at its annual Alumni and Friends event celebrating alumni, clinical partners, donors, and friends of the department.
The David K. Merrick Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual who has gone above and beyond to contribute to the program. This year, the award went to Bill Dittrich. Dittrich has been the medical director for the on campus program since 2005 and currently works as a pulmonologist for St. Luke’s Health System. Dittrich’s unwavering support of the program is felt by students, faculty and staff alike.
The department additionally awarded Will Thomas with the Outstanding Clinical Preceptor award. This award recognizes an individual who supports the department by precepting students while on their clinical rotations in the local hospitals. Thomas was nominated and voted on by the students in the program who participate in clinical rotations. Thomas is a respiratory therapist with St. Luke’s Nampa.
