As advocates for diverse perspectives and inclusive behaviors on campus, members of the Boise State community also have the opportunity to be advocates in the greater Treasure Valley. The 2019 Diversity and Inclusion Summit, hosted by Boise State’s Blue Sky Institute, will be held 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 8 in the Student Union Building’s Simplot Ballroom.
Registration is now open. Please register here.
The summit will feature keynote speaker Risha Grant, an award-winning diversity and inclusion consultant, author and international speaker. Boise State President Marlene Tromp also will provide comments to open the summit.
Idaho’s communities consist of people and views from a wide range of perspectives, backgrounds and ideologies. By fostering a diverse and inclusive mindset, individuals have the opportunity to better understand their neighbors and unify their community. Creating an equitable and inclusive environment helps attract and retain diverse populations to Idaho’s schools and businesses, and can profoundly benefit personal relationships as well.
As an individual, advancing a diverse and inclusive community can feel like a daunting challenge. However, with a few targeted skills, everyone can influence change, and create stronger and more inclusive environments. The summit is ready to draw Boise State students, faculty, staff and the general public into this important conversation.
The summit will include breakout sessions and a networking social hour as well as lunch and refreshments.
