The School of Allied Health Sciences’ Department of Radiologic Sciences and the Human Performance Lab (HPL) presented, alongside other community health related providers and educators, at the Discovery Center of Idaho (DCI) Adult Nights on the evenings of January 25 and February 8.
DCI Adult Nights featured the traveling exhibit, “Bodies Human: Anatomy in Motion.” The event provided attendees with the opportunity to experience the exhibit and visit with community partners.
The HPL partnered with cyclists from the local UpCycle team to demonstrate the measurement of maxium oxygen consumption. Attendees were able to observe these cyclists while they evaluated the limits of their performance and explored ways to enhance their future performance. Attendees were also provided with information about the various testing services the HPL offers. The HPL was represented by Shawn Simonson, professor for the Department of Kinesiology, Taylor Thompson, HPL technician, and Kinesiology students Alicia Foxx and Olivia Filicetti.
John Lampignano, visiting scholar for the Department of Radiologic Sciences, led an informational session on various radiological cases, program information, and devices used in the on-campus laboratories. Attendees were given insights to a medical imaging career and the roles and responsibilities of a medical imaging technologist.
Lampignano was joined by current radiologic sciences students Hannah Lee, Ashley Mason, Katherine McKenzie, and Jordan Reich to represent the Department of Radiologic Sciences at the event.
