Uwe Reischl presented the keynote address at the eighth International Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Symposium (TBIS 2015) held in Zadar, Croatia, June 14-18. Reischl’s presentation, titled “Assessing Ultraviolet and Infrared Radiation Penetration through Clothing,” offered new insights into the performance characteristics of protective clothing exposed to intense outdoor solar radiation. That exposure results in an increased risk for skin cancer, accelerated skin aging and heat stroke. The research was conducted in the Department of Community and Environmental Health with the participation of student research assistant Jordan Ramage.
