Robin Allen, associate professor in the School of Social Work, co-facilitated Social Work Ethics in India: A Call for the Development of Indigenized Standards. This three day summit on Jan. 12 – 14 at the School of Social Work, Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) was held in Mumbai, India.
Allen, along with Richard Reamer and Jayashree Nimmagadda, professors from the Rhode Island College School of Social Work, worked with faculty from TISS and other universities and social work practitioners to develop a draft of a national code of ethics for social work in India, as well as a plan for implementation of a national social work organization. The main focus of the workshop was to develop a code of ethics that is relevant to the context of social work practice in India.
Allen and Nimmagadda were invited to the TTK Hospital on Jan. 20 in Chennai, India to present the work that was accomplished at the TISS summit.
