Uwe Reischl, a professor in the Department of Community and Environmental Health, recently co-authored a book chapter in collaboration with Ron Oberleitner of Behavioral Imaging Solutions Inc. The chapter, titled “Telehealth Technology Enabling Medication Management of Children with Autism,” appears in “Advances in Human Aspects of Healthcare,” edited by V. Duffy and N. Lightner and published by the AHFE Conference, USA, 2014.
In the chapter, Reischl and Oberleitner discuss the outcome of a multi-year study that evaluated a newly developed smart-phone application for the medication management of problem behaviors observed in home environments using remote behavior imaging. The chapter describes physician and caregiver feedback information with regard to the perceived effectiveness of the technology in supporting the well-being of children on the autism spectrum.
