The College of Health Sciences Office of Research made leaps in the office’s evolution during the month of March.
The Office of Research is now housed in a single location in the Norco Nursing and Health Services Building Suite 113, has combined pre-award and post-award services, and has a new director. For faculty and staff in the College of Health Sciences, the new location means centralized access to personnel supporting research and other sponsored activities.
Janet Reis, former director of the Office of Research, will now focus on her role as senior researcher within the office. In this capacity, she will support faculty and engage community partners to design and implement original research proposals and projects.
Newly appointed director, Terri Soelberg, will provide leadership and support to advance the college’s research-related strategic goals.
Soelberg has over twelve years of experience in research development and administration. Prior to her new position, she served as the grant coordinator for the College of Health Sciences and a program coordinator for both a Health Resources and Services Administration grant and a National Science Foundation STEM grant at Northern Arizona University. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Masters of Education in Human Relations Counseling, and is the only Certified Research Administrator in the state of Idaho.
“It has been a privilege to serve the college for the past 10 years,” states Soelberg. “I am excited by this new opportunity and believe the merger of pre- and post-award services will enable us to provide seamless continuity of support to those who are interested in pursuing extramural funding.”
Currently, Soelberg is working on a strategic plan for the College of Health Sciences Office of Research to guide efforts in the next fiscal year and beyond.
