In an effort to support a valued clinical partner in the community, the Department of Radiologic Sciences faculty members, John Lampignano and Travis Armstrong, delivered an in-service training on pediatric imaging to approximately 20 Primary Health Medical Group radiologic technologists in Feb.
Primary Health, one of the largest employers of technologists in the region, recently opened their first dedicated Pediatric Urgent Care in Meridian. With a commitment to delivering high quality care, Primary Health invited Lampignano and Armstrong to share knowledge about best practices surrounding pediatric imaging. Â
Topics covered included: age appropriate communication strategies, compassionate and effective immobilization techniques, and patient safety. Attending radiologic technologists found the in-service training to be a rewarding and informative experience.
The College of Health Sciences is grateful for community partners such as Primary Health as they provide career experience for many of the college’s students. The Department of Radiologic Sciences students do a rotation through Primary Health clinics as a part of their program requirements. Beyond having the opportunity to take general x-rays during this rotation, students gain valuable patient care skills experience.
