College of Health Sciences Dean Tim Dunnagan has appointed Ron Pfeiffer as interim associate dean of the college. The appointment became effective July 1.
“Ron brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position and I am confident that he will do an excellent job,” Dunnagan said.
Since 2013, Pfeiffer has served as interim associate dean of the College of Education. Pfeiffer served as the chair of the Department of Kinesiology for the prior five years and has served an array of roles in the department for the past 34 years, including athletic training program director and graduate program director. In July, kinesiology moved from education to health sciences.
Pfeiffer also serves as executive director of Boise State’s Center for Orthopaedic and Biomechanics Research (COBR), a partnership between kinesiology and the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering. COBR advances understanding of the mechanical and neuromuscular characteristics of human movement through basic science, engineering, clinical research and education.
He was a certified athletic trainer for 34 years and a licensed athletic trainer in Idaho for 23 years. His research focus has been identifying gender-related neuromechanical factors that may contribute to non-contact injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament in female athletes.
