Uwe Reischl, a professor in the Department of Community and Environmental Health, presented the keynote address at the fifth International Ergonomics Conference held in Zadar, Croatia, June 12-15. Reischl’s presentation, titled “Use of Remote Laboratories in Ergonomics Education and Research,” described current applications of Internet-based robotic control systems in university teaching and research laboratories. His presentation included a demonstration of the Boise State University thermal manikin laboratory, which is accessible globally via the Internet. Reischl also offered new ideas for use of such a technology approach to more efficiently share laboratory resources among academic institutions internationally.
