Center for the Study of Aging Pilot Awards

Awards

The Boise State University Center for the Study of Aging is accepting proposals to support pilot studies that have a high likelihood of leading to applications for federally sponsored research. The maximum amount for any one award is $15,000. Depending on the size of the requests, we plan to make at least three awards.

Key Dates

  • Friday, November 22, 2024 (5pm, MST): Deadline to email application and abbreviated CV(s) of PI(s) to the Office of the Acting Associate Dean for Research (bobwood@boisestate.edu)
  • Friday January 9th, 2025: Notification of award
  • Friday December 14, 2025: Final Report and award close out (carry forwards not allowed)
  • June 30, 2026: Latest expected proposal submission to a federally sponsored research program.

Eligibility

Principle Investigators must hold a full-time faculty position at Boise State University, and must provide an IRB study number for the planned work (proposals that have been submitted to the Boise State IRB are acceptable). Studies requiring IRB approval from outside entities must already be approved. If funded, all key personnel will be considered members of the Center for the Study of Aging and should make participation in Center activities an important priority.

Allowable Expenses

These funds are to be used for equipment, supplies, student support, professional services, or core/recharge center support necessary to complete the project. This program does not fund faculty time, conference travel, or publication costs. The funds can be used to defray in-state travel necessary for data collection.

  • Investigator(s) demonstrate familiarity with and productivity in the area of work, commensurate with their rank
  • The budget is reasonable and adequate to support the planned work.

Administrative Review will include
