Transcript for Transitioning to Phase II

Hello! My name is Janis Hetrick, and I am the person here at Boise State University School of Nursing, who will be reviewing your application.

At this point you should have completed and submitted the online application, paid the $20 application fee and used the Google collection form to turn in any supportive documentation to nursing admissions.

The next thing to do is to watch your Boise state email.

Submitting your application successfully does not mean that your part of the process is over.

Check your spam filters and folders. You might receive an email from nursing admissions.

I often encounter situations where important supporting documents or transcripts are missing from the applications. I am unable to approve you to move on to phase 2 until I have evidence that you have satisfactorily met all of the prerequisites.

Please remember that your applications are reviewed in the order received. Nursing Admissions will let you know if you are not able to proceed to Phase 2.

You might receive emails from Kira Talent.

If you are approved to move on to Phase 2, you will receive an email with an invitation to create an account with them. You will have the opportunity to practice the video interview process.

Please check your Boise state email.

I cannot emphasize this enough.

Check your spam filters and folders every application cycle. There are applicants who miss opportunities due to not reading their emails before critical deadlines.

At this point you have moved on to Phase 2 of the application process.

Congratulations!
Take a deep breath.
Now it’s time to interview.

We will be using online software. It’s a program called Kira Talent.

The Phase 2 invitations to set up an account will be sent out weekly to applicants whose

applications were reviewed and approved. As a reminder, this occurs in the order applications have been submitted and successfully completed the Phase 1 process.

Assessing applicants in Kira Talent helps our admissions team mitigate the impact of bias in the admissions process. Your responses will be independently evaluated by multiple reviewers who will assess your strengths using competency based criteria and structured rubrics.

This process not only ensures consistency in the way that we assess and score applicants, it also means that your success doesn’t rest on a single reviewer or question.

The invitation will walk you through setting up your account and testing your equipment. You will have the opportunity to practice during this period.

Approximately one week after the Phase 1 application period closes, you will receive an important email, notifying you that the official period has begun.

You will have 10 days to complete this interview process.

The interview process will consist of 5 timed interview questions and 2 short timed writing prompts.

You will have 90 seconds of prep time with 2 minutes to respond for the video questions.

Please do not feel that you need to fill up the whole 2 minutes with talk time.

This can make it awkward for both you and the reviewer.

You will have 6 minutes total for the written responses.

Please remember that you are not allowed to copy and paste for the written questions.

You won’t be graded on grammatical or spelling errors. Faculty are looking for authentic responses pulled from real life encounters.

Please don’t think that you’re limited to healthcare related instances. For example, you can demonstrate the qualities requested by sharing how you experience this in sports, music, family responsibilities, or volunteering.

Please please do not wait until the last minute to begin and complete the interview phase. You will want to test everything as soon as possible, because if you have technical issues, you will need to contact Kira Talent directly.

Neither the Boise State help desk nor the School of Nursing’s staff and the College of Health and Science Advisers have the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in Kira Talent.

Janis Hetrick: Finally, no late submissions will be allowed.

If you do not meet the deadline, you will no longer be qualified and will have to reapply in the next application cycle.

Once you complete all phases of the application, you can expect to hear your status within 4 to 6 weeks beyond the Kira Talent deadline.

Please continue to watch your Boise State University email.

We have been known to send additional critical information that could be helpful in the success of the application process.

Once the results are released, there will be a short turnaround time for you to submit your response.

Thank you so much for your attention. We appreciate all of your application efforts.
