Hi, everyone! My name’s Josette Bell-Bossard. I am an advisor in the College of Health Sciences Advising Office. I wanted to talk to you for a few minutes to go over the prerequisite requirements needed. To be met in order to be eligible, to apply to the nursing program.
First of all, you’ll have to have the following courses completed with the grade of C, or, better, those courses are English, 101 English, 102 psych. 101 nutrition, which is health 207, bio. 227, bio, 228. And you have a choice of chemistry, 101 or chemistry, 111 plus the lab component and another choice of map 153 or 254.
On top of having these courses completed with a C or, better, you must have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 in the 5 courses that make up your admissions. GPA. Otherwise known as the Big 5. The courses that may from this list that make up the big 5 are Bio, 227, bio, 228. Again, your choice between Chemistry, 101 and 111, plus the lab component and math 153, or 254.
There are 3 more courses which do not need to be completed prior to applying to the program, but can be in progress during the application cycle. Those courses are Bio, 205, Health, 300, and then your second social science requirement, your second social requirement. You have a choice. Here you can complete Social 101-10-2230 or social social work, 101 or health 110.
