Olga Salinas, MPA

Senior Academic Advisor, COHS Student Services and Academic Advising

Olga Salinas began her career at Boise State University after completing her Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Change, from California State University, Hayward. Prior to joining Boise State University, Salinas had significant experience in university admissions, recruitment, community college transfer programming, and working with at-risk student populations.

At Boise State, she expanded her scope to include advising for capped enrollment programs, degree completion, enrollment management, and admission to graduate health-related professional education options. Her current focus is assisting students interested in undergraduate clinical programs such as Radiologic Sciences, Respiratory Care and Nursing; completion of the Health Studies degree, and assisting students interested in graduate professional program admission such as Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy and more.

Salinas has been an active member in numerous professional associations. She has been recognized for Outstanding Advising by the NACADA – The Global Community for Academic Advising, and has presented at several regional and national NACADA conferences. She serves as a Peer Reviewer for Academic Advising Today, an electronic journal for NACADA professionals, and was selected to participate in the United States Army Cadet Command Leadership Training Course for Educators, where among other things, she completed Moore’s Mountain, learned to belay, and discussed education options for Nursing students. Salinas has also co-taught undergraduate Introduction to Public Health, and published several papers in NACADA and health related journals.

A believer in life-long learning, Salinas recognizes that life requires personal growth, frequent redesign and occasional renegotiation. She is dedicated to helping students discover their interests, goals, and their strategies to succeed.
