Transcript for Boise State Clinical Programs

Hi my name is Olga Salinas.
I’m the Assistant Director of Student Services and Academic Advising here at the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University.

And this is a short video; it’s just designed to introduce you to three additional clinical programs that you might want to consider. In several cases you have already met most, if not all, of the prereqs for admission consideration. So let’s start.

The first one I’d like to introduce you to is Respiratory Care. Respiratory Care practitioners work right alongside nurses. They are a super high demand profession and we have one of the top programs in the nation. They are cardio renal experts. They are critical to the medical team. You will find our graduates at Cleveland Clinic, Boston Mass, Duke University, University of Virginia Med, right here in our excellent local hospitals, and so many more places. Again very high demand field anywhere from NICU, the beginning of life, through end of life, everything in between. This might be a field for you to seriously consider.

Next Radiologic Sciences. These are the professionals that provide the images that radiologists will then use to determine what the cause might be, the diagnosis, and treatment plans. At Boise State University, you will find that we have bachelor’s degree programs in the diagnostic radiology, which is the X-ray, sonography, MRI, NCT. There’s a little difference in the math requirement and there is a computer requirement but the Student Services and Academic Advising team can help you navigate through those. If you’re interested, these might be fields that you’d like to apply to.

Social Work. Social Work is a licensure program. These are high demand professionals. We are falling short by about 74,000 social workers in this nation over the next 10 years. They are skilled in the psychology of humans, the human development, understanding the social determinants of well-being, as well as knowing experts at the connections in systems in communities that will support individuals and families in crisis.

So here you have the websites. I hope you’ll take a picture and that you’ll make an effort to go check these programs out. These might be really good fits for you and please know it is not unusual to have students apply to more than one clinical program. If you’re interested in more than one field, by all means explore it, apply for it. Thank you so much and we hope to see you in Student Services and Academic Advising.
