Looking for a way to volunteer during COVID-19?

Medical Supply Drive Volunteer Opportunity During COVID-19 Pandemic

Benjamin Fisher from Georgetown University School of Medicine, MD Candidate, Class of 2022 and the Maryland Regional Coordinator for the Medical Supply Drive has reached out to the COHS Advising team to encourage your support and help.

The Medical Supply Drive was founded when the COVID-19 crisis began ramping up in the US by six 3rd year Georgetown University School of Medicine Students. At this point, we now have over 1000 members across the US and have collected hundreds of thousands of units of PPE. Many of our initial volunteers were medical students, but as COVID-19 cases across the country ramp up, we are hoping to further extend volunteer and leadership opportunities to anyone interested in health or medical fields.

How you can help

Their work primarily consists of calling and emailing local businesses to collect PPE, then using our contacts to bring it to hospitals in need. We have safety rules in place, use a no-contact protocol, and work directly with the hospitals to ensure our volunteers do not have to enter hospitals. If you think this is something you may be interested in, please feel free to contact Benjamin Fisher at Bpf28@georgetown.edu. They believe this may be a valuable opportunity for students pursuing careers in medicine to make a difference during this time of need.
