Meet the Ambassadors

Sushmi Baniya is a graduate student pursuing an M.A. in Public Health at Boise State University. She holds a B.S. in Nursing from Padmashree Institute of Nursing in Bangalore, India, along with a graduate certificate in Gerontology. With experience as a Life Enrichment Team Member, Sushmi has developed strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage meaningfully with diverse individuals. Currently, she works as a front desk assistant at Boise State University, where she enjoys supporting students and fostering a welcoming environment. Passionate about public health advocacy, Sushmi is eager to assist prospective students in navigating their academic journeys and exploring opportunities within the field.

Holly Becker is a graduate student in the Master of Social Work program at Boise State University. After earning a B.S. in Psychological and Brain Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2020, Holly has had professional experience in various roles across the mental health and social work fields. These experiences have allowed her to develop strong skills in coordination, mentorship, data analysis, and client support. Using her skills and insight, Holly is excited to connect with future students to guide them through their graduate application process.

Esteban Gonzalez is a graduate student pursuing an MBA in Business Administration. Esteban graduated in May 2023 with a B.B.A. in International Business, a minor in Human Resources Management, and a Program Certificate in Elementary Mandarin Chinese from Boise State University. As a graduate student, he continues to develop the necessary skills to take on the challenges he is faced with. Esteban is a first-generation college graduate and a U.S. military veteran who is passionate about his education. He is excited to see the program grow. Through innovative engagement and recruitment strategies, he is able to provide meaningful insight to prospective students and is excited to connect them with the Graduate College at Boise State University.

Autumn Johnson is a graduate student pursuing a M.S. in Social Work. Autumn graduated in December of 2022 with a B.S. in Communication Studies from Utah State University, specializing in conflict and interpersonal communication. Using her communication and organizational skills, she is active in the graduate community and brings meaningful insight to prospective students. Autumn provides an open and inclusive space for prospective students to ask questions and learn more about the graduate programs at Boise State University.

Calvin Jones is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Biomedical Engineering Doctoral Program with a focus on biomaterials and tissue engineering. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2021 (WHOOP!) with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. His research explores the nano-mechanical properties of novel biomaterials and how they can be modulated to direct cell differentiation, aiming to improve regenerative therapies for complex musculoskeletal tissues. Passionate about mentoring students and helping others navigate graduate school, Calvin is excited to collaborate with prospective students and share his experiences!

Hailie Oberle is a graduate student pursuing a degree in Elementary Education in the Master’s in Teaching program at Boise State. Hailie earned my undergraduate degree at Boise State University in December of 2023 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Hailie credits the ease of her transition into teaching to her graduate advisors. Navigating the education program without any prior experience, she believes the College of Education equipped her with all the tools and strategies necessary to succeed as a future teacher. Hailie is excited to share her knowledge about earning a graduate degree with the College of Education with those who are interested, especially future educators!
