Always Something to Do

Intensive English Program students enjoy many cultural and outdoor activities around the Boise area. Some of the most popular activities are:

Sports Events

Play badminton, soccer, basketball, tennis, Frisbee, or volleyball with new friends on campus. The University Recreation Center is a state-of-the-art facility offering sports, fitness, recreation activities, and an excellent outdoors education program.

Snow Fun

In just a short drive from campus, you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, and snowshoeing at affordable prices. Bogus Basin Ski Resort is just 19 miles from campus, and many state parks and mountains surrounding Boise offer opportunities for cross-country skiing (Nordic skiing) and snowshoeing. The world-renowned Sun Valley Resort is only three hours from campus.

River Fun

We float the Boise River! The Boise State campus is located right next to the Boise River. During the summer months, we like to go for a refreshing floating experience. Idaho’s beauty is marked by rivers and mountains. The Snake River and Payette River make for a great white-water rafting and kayaking experience.

Cultural Activities

Boise is a capital city, so it has many cultural opportunities. Visit the Boise Art Museum, the Idaho Historical Museum, and the Black History Museum of Idaho. See popular music concerts or the Boise Philharmonic. Go to the Idaho Shakespeare Festival or Boise Contemporary Theater to see a play. Spend some time at the historic “Basque Block.” There’s so much to do in Boise.
