The Boise State Women’s Basketball team is off to a record-breaking start, defeating Multnomah 121-64 in the season’s opening game. The Broncos broke a school record for points scored during a single game.
“We are excited about our team this season,” said Heather Sower, assistant coach. “Our program has a tradition of success, and we’ve spent all summer discussing how to uphold that tradition. The team returned this summer with a focus and commitment to improving every day we spend in the gym.”
A strong group of seasoned players and focus on success gave the team a leg up.
“We returned four starters from last year’s team, which has given us a great head start this season,” she said.
Abby Muse, Elodie Lalotte, Anna Ostile and Mary Kay Naro have grown as basketball players and team leaders on and off the court.Â
“They joined our program to be a part of a winning tradition and you can see how committed they are to that goal,” Sower said. “They’ve taken it upon themselves to lead by example and demand excellence from everyone within the program.”
Former players and alumni are part of the team, helping it meet its goals.
“We want every player that plays for us to be a part of moving this program forward,” Sower said. “We appreciate all the support from our former players and the Boise State alumni. Bronco Nation has been great to us as we continue to improve our program and advance women’s hoops as a whole.”
