Brenna McNeil represented Bronco Nation at the Tokyo Olympics in the summer of 2021, serving as a volunteer German/English interpreter for athletes.

“It’s an event I never dreamed I would be a part of and I can’t wait to apply and hopefully be part of more Olympic games in the future,” McNeil said.

She used her language skills at the beach volleyball venue.

“My first time interpreting was super nerve-wracking. I was starstruck being in the presence of these amazing athletes,” McNeil said. “They would speak and then look expectantly at me to make sure I was getting everything.”

At Boise State, McNeil is pursuing a BA in German secondary education with a minor in global studies.

McNeil was born in Germany where her father was stationed in the U.S. Army. McNeil grew up speaking German and English. After her father retired, the family moved to Japan where McNeil’s mother teaches on a U.S. Navy base.
