>> CARLOS: Being in this program has helped me realize that I can do things that I wanted to do, and things that I haven’t thought of, that I could do. Things that are difficult, I found that I can do them.

>> TITLE: Boise State University: Bronco Gap Year
>> MOLLY: Going into the program all I wanted was just a next step on what I should do.
>> KELLY: The Bronco Gap Year Program provides valuable time for you to save money, focus your interests, and start or restart your college experience with a stronger sense of purpose.
>> MOLLY: I was feeling pretty lost by the time my graduation came around. I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go, what I wanted to do, if I wanted to go to college, if I wanted to try some other type of school or start a career. I wasn’t sure.
>> CARLOS: I needed to take a break from school just because I was building bad habits and I just didn’t feel I was giving it my best effort. And so I decided to take a little bit of a break and try to work on myself before I continue school.
>> KELLY: To support you on your journey, you work with a Boise State faculty member, a current student, and a community of Gap Year students.
>> CARLOS: Having heard of the program, I decided to let myself be helped by others instead of doing it all on my own and hope for the best.
>> MOLLY: And it was exactly what I was looking for. It was flexible but gave me guidance. And I was really able to explore different opportunities or options that I’d never been able to do before.
>> KELLY: You also gain tools and resources to help you explore your passions.
>> MOLLY: I also kind of worked on just goal setting for in life. I learned more things about myself. I grew a lot. I kind of discovered some things that I valued through like major exploration.
>> CARLOS: I took an aptitude test last semester in a class and park ranger or forestry in general was an option that popped up as a good career choice for me. And so I thought about it and I was like, “Wow that actually sounds very, almost perfect for me.”
>> KELLY: During your Bronco Gap Year experience you will design a personal project based on your interests and goals.
>> MOLLY: Yeah I would like do research on certain opportunities then we would build on that and move forward.
>> CARLOS: My mentor is AJ and he’s been very helpful in figuring out what I want to do with my next steps on how to pursue my career exploration.
>> KELLY: It’s important to us in the Gap Year Program to build a network. We have a network of support that we offer and we help each individual student build their network.
>> CARLOS: Having a different point of view and all those different connections that he has have been very helpful for me. And just having someone to talk to as well sometimes. It’s very nice and so I appreciate his help a lot.
>> KELLY: And Bronco Gap Year is affordable. The program fee is lower than tuition and we offer scholarships and payment plans to help work with your budget.
>> CARLOS: Getting to meet all these different people is very exciting and I get to build connections. And that’s one thing I want to do as well.
>> KELLY: At the end of your journey you leave Bronco Gap Year with a plan and clear next steps.
>> MOLLY: I just wanted the next step and that’s exactly what I got.
