How does my financial aid apply to my study abroad costs?
For Direct Exchange Programs, your aid will disburse no earlier than 10 days prior to the start of your classes. Your aid will then begin to pay the tuition owed at Boise State and the $400 study abroad fee. Any excess aid would be refunded to you.
For Outside Programs, your aid will disburse no earlier than 10 days prior to the start of your classes. The only charge that financial aid will cover automatically is the $400 study abroad fee. Any excess aid would be refunded to you. You are responsible for paying charges due to your outside program.
Can I use my non-resident (Foothills, Ridgeline, Summit, or WUE) scholarship while studying abroad?
This is allowable for Direct Exchange Programs. This is because you still have tuition charges through Boise State.
This is NOT allowable for Outside Programs. This is because you have no tuition at Boise State. Your scholarship will be deferred automatically and you will get confirmation of this action through your BroncoMail.
Can I use other scholarships when I study abroad?
Students should be able to use all other scholarships when studying abroad unless there is language that specifically prevents it. To double check if your scholarship can be used when studying abroad please email scholarships@boisestate.edu.
