Feature Scholarships for Adult Students
Crankstart Reentry Scholarship
Thanks to the generosity of the Crankstart Foundation, $50,000 in scholarships are available for reentry students during the 2025-26 academic year.
Annual individual awards are up to $5,000 for full-time or part-time students.
To be considered for a Crankstart Reentry Scholarship, a student must:
- Be admitted as a degree-seeking undergraduate at Boise State University.
- Be a reentry student, typically between the ages 25 and 50, who experienced a five-year cumulative gap in their college studies. (The gap does not have to include five consecutive years away from school, but five total years.)
- Enroll primarily in face-to-face courses.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Complete the online Boise State Scholarship Application and respond to the Crankstart Reentry Scholarship supplemental questions within the application.
Final selection is competitive. Preference is given to entering students. The scholarship is not renewable; however, students who are awarded the scholarship may reapply each academic year.
The Crankstart Reentry Scholarship deadline for 2025-2026 is June 1, 2025.
Extended Studies Scholarship
The Extended Studies scholarship benefits students who are enrolled in the flexible evening, online and weekend programs offered through Extended Studies in partnership with academic departments.
To be considered for an Extended Studies Scholarship, a student must:
- Be pursuing a degree through Extended Studies
- Plan to enroll at least part-time (six undergraduate credits; five graduate credits)
- Demonstrate financial need. We can determine your financial need by the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Complete the online Boise State Scholarship Application and respond to the Extended Studies Scholarship supplemental questions within the application.

Idaho Opportunity Scholarship for Adult Learners
Recognizing the need for a well-educated workforce, the state of Idaho established the Opportunity Scholarship to remove barriers to higher education and prepare college/university graduates to enter the workforce. The scholarship funds are available per school year; recipients must re-apply each year and are eligible to receive the scholarship for a maximum of four years.
Annual individual awards are up to $3,500 per year.
To be considered for the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship for Adult Learners, a student must:
- Be an Idaho resident and graduated from an Idaho high school
- Have an unweighted, cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
- Be working towards their undergraduate degree or certificate, up to a first bachelor’s degree
- Have at least 24 postsecondary credits before a cease in enrollment
- Not have attended a postsecondary institution within the last 24 months (or completed a maximum of two classes within the last 24 months)
- Be admitted as a degree-seeking undergraduate student at Boise State University
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
- Complete the online Idaho Opportunity Scholarship for Adult Learners application.
Osher Reentry Scholarship
Thanks to the generosity and vision of the Bernard Osher Foundation, $50,000 in scholarships are available for reentry students during the 2025-26 academic year.
Annual individual awards are up to $2,500 for part-time students and $5,000 for full-time students.
To be considered for an Osher Reentry Scholarship a student must:
- Be admitted as a degree-seeking undergraduate at Boise State University.
- Be a reentry student, typically between the ages 25 to 50, who experienced a five-year cumulative gap in their college studies. (The gap does not have to include five consecutive years away from school, but five total years.)
- Enroll in face-to-face or online courses.
- Have a 3.0 cumulative college GPA.
- Plan to participate in the workforce for a significant period of time after graduation.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Complete the online Boise State Scholarship Application and respond to the Osher Reentry Scholarship supplemental questions within the application.
The Osher Reentry Scholarship deadline for 2025-2026 is June 1, 2025.

How to access the online Boise State Scholarship Application:
- Sign in using your Boise State username and passphrase. If you need help signing in with your Boise State username, please contact the Help Desk or call (208) 426-4357.
- If this will be your first time logging into the Boise State Scholarship Application, you must answer all questions in the General Application first.
- Once you complete the General Application, you will be matched with scholarships for which you immediately qualify.
- To see a list of scholarships that may need additional action on your part to receive consideration (such as the featured scholarships), select “Recommended” under “Opportunities.” If you qualify, you will be auto-matched to these opportunities.
