The Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing and the Film Lecture Series presents Jeff Dixon, a prolific director and screenwriter. Dixon will give a talk followed by a Q and A at 7 PM on Friday, February 2 in the Great Hall of the Hemingway Center. This event is free and open to the public.
Jeff Dixon, that twisted guy who grew up reading Fangoria magazine and watching every horror movie his local video store in small town Utah had on the shelf, translated this obsession into writing the same type of horror and thriller scripts he grew up worshipping. Most recently Jeff co-created and co-ran the Dreamworks animated series Curses! for AppleTV+ with John Krasinski producing. The opening line in a New York Times article about the series said, “Jeff Dixon wants to frighten your children.” This is pretty much the truth. Freeform purchased his TV project The Final Girls with Jamie Lee Curtis attached. He also wrote on FLAUNT for AwesomenessTV. Many of his film projects won awards (Dermis), and/or been featured in both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter (The Hurricane Heist, Fragile Buried). Additionally, he authored a full-length graphic novel (“Run Like Hell”), published by Ape Entertainment, and even worked briefly writing for World Wrestling Entertainment. His extremely varied career spans every nook and cranny of the nutty entertainment business.
