Next-Generation Multi-Modal Biomedical Sensors and Systems for Diagnosis, Intervention, and Rehabilitation

Today, our global society is facing unique healthcare challenges due to rising costs, the growing aging population, and the prevalence of chronic diseases. Wearable Sensors and Systems, the Internet-of-Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) hold great potential to fulfill healthcare needs. By utilizing IoT- and AI-enabled biomedical wearable/portable medical devices, real-time monitoring of patients can be made possible while the platform can autonomously understand and monitor biomarkers of patient health.

Dr. Saikia will present the prospects of wearable sensors and systems, IoT, and AI for healthcare. He will present the design and development of sensors, analog and digital circuits, embedded systems, signal processing and AI methods, and IoT architecture. He will cover human-subject clinical studies, and the Human-in-the-loop iterative design, development, and deployment approach where patients, clinicians, and engineers work together to innovate healthcare technologies.


Speaker Bio 

Dr. Saikia is currently an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering department at the University of North Florida. He is the Director of the Biomedical Sensors and Systems Lab. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island (2019), a Master’s of Science in Bio-Electronics Engineering (2013), and a Bachelor’s of Science in Electronics Engineering (2009). He has 12+ years of research experience in Biomedical Sensors and Systems.
