“I BELIEVE: The Music of Bonds, Poulenc and Shaw”

Experience a powerful musical journey at Boise State Music’s Spring “Masterworks” concert! Join us as the Combined Choirs and Symphony Orchestra perform captivating pieces by Margaret Bonds, Francis Poulenc and Caroline Shaw. Shaw’s “To the Hands” causes us to examine the wounds inflicted on Christ, ourselves and others–particularly displaced people, while Poulenc’s “Litanies à la Vierge noire” offers a prayer for mercy amid loss. Margaret Bonds’s “Credo” echoes the powerful words of civil rights icon W. E. B. Du Bois, proclaiming equality and denouncing oppression. Don’t miss this unforgettable evening of music and reflection!

The concert takes place on Sunday, April 28th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Morrison Center Main Hall. Tickets are $13.25 (including fees). Free tickets are available in advance from the Morrison Center Box Office for all Boise State students, staff, and faculty with school ID. All proceeds benefit Boise State Music scholarships.
