Join Boise State Music for our Fall Jazz Combos Concert. As an extension of chamber music, jazz combos are small jazz groups comprised of a rhythm section (defined as bass, percussion, and at least one chordal instrument such as piano, guitar or vibes) and can include other instruments such as saxophone, trumpet, flute, etc. Most jazz combos range in size from 3 to 7 musicians.

At Boise State, jazz combos are either self-directed (student-run) or instructor-led. These groups rehearse each week and perform an end-of-semester concert. They are also encouraged to seek and book gigs in the community. These ensembles primarily focus on the Jazz tradition of small groups between the late 1940s and the mid-1960s, implementing the study and performance of standards and the development of original arrangements.

Parking: Convenient hourly public parking for non-Boise State parking permit holders attending Music Department events is available just south of the Morrison Center in the Brady Street Garage for $3.25 per hour. Cash and credit/debit cards are accepted at the kiosk.
