Varsity Player Johnathan “Clear” Foraker Visits Esports World Cup

It’s been a very busy year for varsity Boise State Overwatch player Johnathan Foraker. Foraker started 2024 traveling to Korea, playing for the professional team DAF in the Overwatch Champions Series. This summer, Foraker traveled again, this time to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to compete in the 2024 Esports World Cup. Foraker competed with Singaporean team Bleed Esports in the event’s Overwatch 2 tournament.

The Esports World Cup is a new world championship for many different competitive video games, including Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, Call of Duty, and many more. 2024 is the inaugural year for the tournament. Competition has been ongoing since early July, and wraps up August 24. Over $60,000,000 in prize money is available for competitors in the tournament. Foraker’s team, Bleed Esports ended it’s Esports World Cup run early on in the tournament, being eliminated in tournament’s group stage.

Foraker, also known by his gamertag “Clear” joined the Boise State Overwatch team in 2022. Since then, he’s made a name for himself as a top tier tank player in the Overwatch community. As he’s become more recognized, he’s competed with various pro southeast Asian Overwatch teams. His most recent team before the Esports World Cup was DAF, who competed in the Overwatch Champions Series in the Asia Pacific region. Foraker is originally from Annapolis, MD, and plans to graduate in Spring 2026 with a degree in Cyber Operations and Resilience.
