“This weekend will be one to remember,” tweeted out NACE Starleague in regards to their upcoming Spring 2023 grand finals. For Boise State, that statement could not be more true. Boise State’s Overwtach team departed Boise this morning to head to Indianapolis for the NACE Starleague National Championships. The championships are set to take place over the coming weekend. The championships feature Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Valorant, CS:GO, Rainbow 6, and Call of Duty matches.
Boise State enters this tournament as the defending national champions in Overwtach 2. The Broncos previously won the Fall 2022 NACE Starleague championships in Philadelphia, PA, sweeping UT Dallas 3-0 in the grand finals. This year, Boise State is facing off against another formidable opponent, Maryville University. These two teams most recently competed in the Overwatch Collegiate Championships last weekend. While both teams didn’t directly face off in the playoffs, Maryville finished better overall by placing 3rd. Boise State got knocked out earlier in the playoffs.
This championship takes place at Butler’s Esports Arena in Indianapolis. The Overwatch team won’t be the only Broncos attending the event. Longtime Boise State caster and former Overwatch varsity player Artemis Rainn will serve as host throughout the weekend. This Springs Overwatch championship match kicks of tomorrow, at 4pm eastern time. Viewer can tune into NACE Starleague’s Twitch page to watch. Be sure to tune in and show your support for the Broncos!
