With the spring semester wrapping up, Boise State is competing in many postseason matches, including those for the Mountain West. Boise State recently faced off against UNLV in the Mountain West Valorant finals. Both universities already competed against each other in the MW Overwatch finals last week.
Boise State and UNLV are a familiar sight in Mountain West championship games, with Valorant being no exception. Both teams faced off in a best of three match on Tuesday, April 11. UNLV proved to be a tough competitor to the Broncos, sweeping them in two rounds and winning the championship. Both of the first two games finished relatively close. UNLV won the first map, Ascent, with a score of 13-9 and the second stage, Haven, 13-10.
The game caps off a challenging Spring semester for the Bronco Valorant team. The Broncos faced tough competition in high profile tournaments such as CVAL, Riot’s official collegiate league, and the CECC West Regionals. While these tournaments might be over for the Broncos, two are still running. Boise State is still competing in the NACE Starleague and NECC Valorant tournaments. Head Valorant coach Alex Moore highlighted what Boise State’s main focus is heading into these final few matches of the Spring.
“Going into playoffs we have put a lot of work into improving our communication within rounds,” said Moore. “We are looking forward to showing off how much we have improved as we approach these big games!”
