Boise, ID — April 2, 2025 For the fifth consecutive year, Head Coach Doc Haskell and Boise State has claimed the Mountain West Overwatch crown—this time in commanding fashion with a 3–0 sweep over longtime rival UNLV. The Broncos, led by standout performances from Styder (Cannon Miller) and Clear (Jonathan Foraker), looked untouchable from start to finish.
The 2025 Grand Finals weren’t just a title match—they were a showcase of Boise State’s refined aggression and depth. And on the other side, despite strong efforts from UNLV’s veterans, the Rebels were once again left, if you’ll forgive the pun, ball-chasing.
“We kind of just wanted to end it quickly and play really well, and I think we did just that.”
Jonathan foraker, boise state
Map 1 – Nepal: The Wrecking Ball Rolls In
Boise State opened the series on Nepal, and within moments, Styder’s Wrecking Ball was already diving into the heart of UNLV’s backline. Despite consistent sleep darts from Hertz (Dylan Simpson), Boise’s tempo never dropped. UNLV’s Qwerty (Jason Pierce), trying to anchor on Doomfist, had moments of brilliance, but Boise’s coordination proved overwhelming. Doc had warned about resurgance of Doom play from Qwerty, so the Bronocos were prepared.
A devastating EMP-Barrage combo from Clear and Maksal (Mark Thanakomsirichot) erased both of UNLV’s supports in an instant, and the first round quickly tilted in Boise’s favor.
Village offered some hope for UNLV as they managed to flip the point with support from Kernmaster (Kernie Sadausky) on Lucio and a few well-placed shots from Omniflarp (William Orellana-Tercero). But again, Clear landed a clutch Pulse Bomb on MrMustardMan (Kyle Burns) during a last-ditch beat attempt—sealing the map for the Broncos.
“It’s like trying to kill a mosquito with a brick—you overcommit to Styder, and Clear and Maksal just run wild.”

Map 2 – New Junk City: Maksal Returns, Chaos Ensues
On New Junk City, Boise State doubled down on their aggressive playbook. Maksal—making his return in his senior season—was all over the Rebels on Echo and Pharah, raining down rockets while Styder peeled attention away with relentless pile drivers and minefields.
Qwerty rotated onto D.Va to try and mitigate the air pressure, while MrMustardMan switched to Sombra for added backline pressure. Though the Rebels did briefly flip the second Flashpoint zone, Lyric’s (Carter Jones) well-timed Kitsune Rushes and Hex’s (Will Hess) healing support quickly tipped the balance back to Boise.
“They don’t let you breathe. If you blink, Clear is behind you, and Styder is already pile driving into your healers.”
Bryce jensen, caster
As the final Flashpoint came online, Boise State baited out all of UNLV’s remaining support ultimates and slammed them with another textbook combo—taking the map and pushing the series to match point.
Map 3 – Runasapi: Becoming Mountain West Champions
With the match point in hand, Boise State headed into Runasapi, and while it was UNLV’s strongest map of the night, it still wasn’t enough.
The Broncos surged off the first engagement, carving out over 100 meters of bot progress in a matter of minutes. Styder dominated again, using minefields and pile drivers to control space and force out cooldowns. Even when MrMustardMan landed solid EMPs and Omniflarp picked up some impressive eliminations, the Rebels couldn’t convert them into sustained control.
“It’s like trying to stop a waterfall with a paper towel.”
jacob Palmer
UNLV made one final push with the clock winding down, but Clear found Kernmaster mid-rotation, cutting their final stand short. The last fight ended with Herz falling, MrMustardMan hacked mid-engage, and Qwerty using Meteor Strike in desperation before being overwhelmed.
Final bot distance: Boise State – 116m | UNLV – 7.6m
