Boise State student Cade Hall, also known by his gamertag “Wuzy”, is getting conference recognition after an incredible season. The Mountain West Conference recently announced Hall as one of the finalists for their Player of the Year award for 2024. Hall is nominated alongside two other players, John “Chowder” Cunningham, Jr. from Air Force, and Tyler “Fossil” Luis from New Mexico.
Cade “Wuzy” Hall’s Nomination
The nomination follows an incredible year of success for Hall and the Boise State Rocket League team. The Broncos recently won their 5th consecutive Mountain West championship this past December. The conference championship win is the second for Hall since joining the varsity program. Boise State has won the Mountain West championship for five years running since 2020. Hall had strong individual stats as a player this past season, averaging 3.1 goals per match.
Originally from Arlington, Texas, Cade Hall signed on with Boise State Esports March 3, 2023. He is currently a Sophomore studying Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is expected to graduate in 2027, giving him at least two more years with Boise State Esports. Hall is just as devoted to performing well academically with a 3.8 GPA.
Cade Hall currently plays alongside teammates Emiliano Flores, Preston Ferrante, Gabriel Reynolds, and Grant Koupler. Boise State is currently competing in the Collegiate Rocket League (CRL) Spring 2025 season, looking for a chance to qualify for CRL Nationals later this year.
Boise State’s Rocket League Success
Hall’s nomination is another spectacular achievement for the Boise State Esports Rocket League program as a whole. Under the leadership of Head Coach Dr. Chris Haskell, and Strategic Coach Payton Wilkin, the Boise State Rocket League team has won numerous championships and honors in the program’s most recent years.
Alongside the previously mentioned Mountain West conference championships, Hall and his team finished as runners-up in both the Rally Cry: Collegiate Series Playoffs and the CECC Commissioners Cup Finals in 2024. Boise State also won the 2022 ECAC Championships and have made regular CRL appearances since the same year. The team made it as far as the CRL Worlds in 2023, competing against teams from Europe. Boise State’s Rocket League team also made a special appearance at Infocomm 2024, where they won yet another tournament.
Individually, Boise State’s players have also received numerous awards for their performance and contributions in collegiate esports. Cade Hall’s teammates Gabriel Reynolds and Emiliano Flores have previously won NAECAD All-American awards. Flores was also named collegiate player of the year at the Scholars Esports Awards in 2023, the year Boise State was named Institution of Year at the same event.
