Boise State Esports is up for yet another award in the esports community. The Tempest Awards nominated Boise State Esports and Idaho Central Credit Union for “Best Brand Activation – Scholastic / Academic Community” in 2024. This is the second major showing Boise State Esports has had in the Tempest Awards. Boise State Esports won the collegiate program of the year award at the 2022 Tempest Awards.
Idaho Central Credit Union is one of Boise State Esports’ closest partners. Not only does ICCU sponsor many parts of Boise State Esports’ broadcasts, such as each night’s Player of the Game, but also special events. One of these special events is Bankers vs Broncos, a tournament that pits Boise State Esports players against Idaho Central Credit Union employees. ICCU is also participates in the Giving Games, an annual charity event raising money for the Idaho Food Bank.
In an interview, Boise State Esports Head Coach Dr. Chris Haskell, named ICCU as one of the first partners the program ever had.
“ICCU has always been a fantastic supporter of scholastic esports in Idaho,” said Dr. Haskell, “They were there for the first high school tournament seven years ago cheering for these amazing students and esports athletes. They’ll be supporting these schools long after I retire.”
Registration for the Tempest Awards is currently open. The award ceremony takes places online October 29 from 1pm-3pm. The Tempest awards will also be held in conjunction with the inaugural Top Women in Esports & Gaming ceremony. Hopefully, come the end of October, Boise State Esports will have yet another trophy to add to their cabinet!
