Boise State’s Valorant team is off to a strong start this fall by qualifying for the Rockies division regionals in the Red Bull Campus Clutch (RBCC) tournament. The Broncos achieved this while competing in the tournament’s initial online qualifiers this past weekend. The RBCC is a yearly international tournament in valorant featuring thousands of players from around the world. Each team competes for the right to represent their country in the tournament’s global championships.
Boise State had a respectable showing last year and made it all the way to the USA grand finals in Arlington, TX. This year, there are three new students joining Boise State’s Valorant team with only two students from last year returning. Needless to say, there are still a lot of unanswered questions as to how the new team will perform this year. However, qualifying to the RBCC regionals is a great first step for the team.
The next stop for the team will be the in-person regional championship. The tournament will be held on September 30th at the Boise State Esports arena. Boise State won the regional tournament last year. This year, teams from Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico will compete at regionals for a chance to reach the Red Bull Campus Clutch USA grand finals later this year.
