Boise State recently attended the Red Bull Campus Clutch Valorant nationals in Arlington, Texas. The Broncos competed on November 19, 2022 and faced off against the top 14 collegiate teams in the US. Boise State won their trip to the nationals after winning the USA Rockies Offline Qualifier which was held earlier in October.
Boise State pulled no punches while playing against some of the toughest teams in the nation. Boise State faced off against Northwood and ended the game with an overall score of 13-8, Northwood winning. Even closer was the Bronco’s match against St. Thomas. The Broncos took St. Thomas to overtime with St. Thomas ultimately winning by a narrow 15-13. Northwood and St. Thomas ultimately made it to the grand finals. Northwood won the whole tournament and now move on to the World Championships held in Brazil.
Even though the Bronco’s weren’t able to win the tournament overall, they put in a respectable performance against the now national champions. Both head coach Chris Haskell and Valorant coach Alex Moore expressed approval of performance the Broncos put on. And ultimately, by making it this far in the tournament, the Broncos were still awarded a trophy and can now say they are among the top 14 collegiate Valorant teams in the nation.
Ultimately the Red Bull Campus Clutch was a very exciting journey for the Broncos this semester and the team looks forward to new competition in Spring 2023.
