Boise State is off to a strong start for their 2022 competitive season. Both Boise State’s Overwatch and Rocket League teams have qualified for the in person finals of Hue Invitational 2022. This marks the third straight year of Boise State traveling to Harrisburg PA for the tournament.
This accomplishment is especially momentous for Boise State’s Rocket League team. 2022 is the first year HUE is hosting Rocket League. 2022 is also the debut year of Emiliano “Durtho” Flores, one of Boise State’s newest players. Boise State started the qualifiers on shaky ground too, losing to the University of Texas Arlington in their first match of the season. However, a winning streak which included a rematch against UTA which the Bronco’s swept, earned them the qualification.
For the Overwatch team, two other new players will get their first chance to travel. Jonathan “Clear” Foraker and Carter “Lyric” Jones will be the two rookies for Overwatch looking to prove themselves in the tournament. Even though this is Clear’s first time traveling with the Bronco’s, it was also be a homecoming of sorts for him. Clear previously attended Hue 2021 and visited the Bronco’s booth during the event. Now being a varsity player for the Bronco’s, Clear is looking to make quite a splash competing at the event he met his future team at.
The in personal finals for HUE 2022 will take place September 25-26
