Amanda Bailey is a 5-Star recruit in Overwatch eligible for college in 2024. She has been at the top of Boise State’s recruiting list for more than 2 years.
Esports Tower recently announced that Lower Merion High School rising-junior Amanda Bailey was one of only 56 gamers out of more than 10,000 applicants selected to participate in the inaugural Esports Tower Summer Invitational. Bailey and the other 55 “high-potential teens” chosen for these elite bootcamp-style training and development sessions had the opportunity to attend an all-expense paid event held at the Boise State University Esports Arena. Attendees of the summer invitational hailed from the United States, Mexico, Canada, England, Wales, Norway, Sweden and Singapore.
Ten University Esports Directors from institutions across the USA provided next-level training focused around the Esports Tower Approach curriculum designed to improve the emotional intelligence of esports athletes. While a grueling schedule with nightly tournaments tested players stamina and game-sense, daily team building and coaching talks with Collegiate Esports Directors helped broaden the knowledge and communication skills of those in attendance.
Tournaments from the event will air throughout the summer on Esports Television’s (ESTV) global network (6-8PM PST) and on Esports Tower Twitch channel (6-8PM EST). Additionally, organizers used this event to film a docu-series designed to demystify the misconceptions surrounding esports and varsity level competitive gaming. Episodes are anticipated to air this fall on ESTV.
Esports Tower innovative teen training and tournament programs are the largest developmental esports clubs in North America. Their weekly Rumble tournament syndication averages 40,000 – 70,000 viewers per event making them the most watched high school events in the USA. Throughout the week, club players 13-18 years old receive professional coaching, access to educational series, how-to webinars as well as one-of-a-kind insider access to esports professionals, college and pro scouts. Top teams and select players can also score go-anywhere study-anything scholarship prizes. In 2021 players earned $1.7M in scholarships.
