Frequently Asked Questions

  • Question: Can I submit more than one story idea?

    Answer: YES!
  • Question: Can I use video to tell my story?

Answer: YES! The Luminary has video guidelines that must be followed, however. Once you submit your application, those guidelines will be sent directly to you.
  • Question: Can I tell a story through dance (or music, or movement, or theater, or…?)

Answer: YES! ALL mediums are welcome for this event. Please keep the national theme in mind as you create your story.
  • Question: What if my story deals with a “controversial” subject? Will it still be considered?

Answer: YES! The best stories make us think and feel… just because the story treats a sensitive subject, does not mean it will not be accepted. Depending on the subject matter, however, we may move your story to a later time during the event or make the audience aware of sensitive topics being shared. We welcome all stories related to our theme!
  • Question: Can I use a PowerPoint presentation as part of my story?

Answer: As with video stories, the Luminary has guidelines for image size and formatting. If you’d like to do a visual presentation as part of your story, please make sure to indicate that on the application form so that we can send the guidelines directly to you.
  • Question: Can I invite people to the Story Night event?

Answer: Of course! The event is free and open to the public. We encourage all participants to invite friends and family.
